- The US-headquartered PE firm Insight Partners (IP) is becoming the majority owner of Detectify, by buying existing shares and investing an undisclosed amount in funding. Insight Partners had already previously been a major shareholder in the Stockholm-based attack surface management platform for AppSec teams. Detectify was founded in 2014 by Rickard Carlsson, Johan Edholm, David Hallenius, and Fredrik Nordberg–Almroth, and has raised over SEK500M in total funding. Most investors and shareholders sell their stakes in the startup to IP, including Inventure and Square One. VC firm Balderton, which led the €21M Series B funding round in late 2019, remains a minority shareholder (English, Swedish / Di Digital paywall). 📊 In September, I covered Detectify's 2023 numbers, which showed slightly shrinking revenue, and a reduced loss of -SEK60.6M.
