Funding news

  • Airmee (Stockholm, last-mile delivery provider): SEK78.9M (€7.3M) convertible note from unspecified existing investors. Creades, J12 Ventures and Alfvén & Didriksson are among the firms that previously invested in the company. In 2021, Airmee grew its revenue by over 100% YoY, to SEK181M (English, Swedish / Breakit paywall).

News from Swedish startups, the tech sector and VCs

  • Jönköping-based startup Multi4, which develops technology for endoscopic cancer diagnosis and treatment and was founded by Miden Melle Hannah, won the "Startup Company of the Year" award at the Techarenan Challenge 2022. Additional awards went to Wayout, Zebrain, Myrspoven, AirForestry and STILRIDE (English).
  • Nstart, Stockholm-based fintech founded in 2016 and providing sustainable debt consolidation solutions for highly indebted consumers, has been granted a license to operate as a credit institution by the Swedish Financial Services Authority (English).
  • Nordic early-stage investment firm Unconventional Ventures (formally based in Denmark), with Stockholm-based general partner Nora Bavey, has raised a new fund of €30M ($31M) to invest in underrepresented founders in Europe (English).
  • Norrsken published its VC Impact Report 2021 (English, PDF).

Swedish tech earnings reports

  • Rebtel (Stockholm, tech company offering digital calling and finance products) reported sales of close to SEK1.9B (€180M, 180M) and net profit of SEK153M (€14M, $14.5M) - 130% up YoY, for 2021 (Swedish / DI Digital paywall).

Other interesting things from the startup/VC world

  • Global VC funding in the 2nd quarter fell 26% quarter over quarter (from $162B), and 27% year-over-year (from $165B), to $120B (English).
  • The European Commission has been developing its first-ever scheme to invest directly into the continent’s most promising deeptech startups — but only one company has received equity backing in over a year. Many startups are being left in limbo (English).
